Pinhole Pursuits: An Etude in Loneliness
This 16-image body of work was created entirely in Berlin using a Sony A7R II converted for full-spectrum capture, a pinhole lens, external 590nm infrared filters, slow shutter speeds, and controlled motion blur. Monochrome and muted colour blends, ghosting, streaking, and atmospheric distortion function as a visual language for psychological states rather than as photographic effects.
The series investigates loneliness, identity, coping mechanisms, displacement, and emotional dissociation. Each photograph acts as a fragment of an interior landscape, where infrared becomes an unseen emotional wavelength and motion blur becomes the erosion of memory and self. The work prioritizes emotional recognition over narrative clarity.
The project is divided into four movements:
Verge — Reaching for what remains just out of grasp
Estranged — Living inside a life that never fits
Sisyphean — Effort against inevitability
Promises — The endings we imagined, the ones we receive
